Your Routine Check-up

During your examination, our clinicians take a comprehensive, preventive approach so that every aspect of your oral health is cared for with precision and attention to detail.

What your check-up includes:

  • Full oral examination: We carefully assess your teeth, gums, bite and soft tissues to monitor changes, detect early signs of decay, disease or tooth wear, and support long-term stability.

  • Gum and bone health review: Your dentist evaluates the condition of your gums and supporting bone, checking for inflammation, recession or periodontal concerns.

  • Oral cancer screening: A quick but important screening of the cheeks, lips, tongue and soft tissues to identify any abnormal changes early.

  • Assessment of existing restorations: We examine crowns, fillings, veneers, implants and other dental work to confirm everything remains strong, healthy and functioning properly.

  • Discussion of your oral health: We take time to review our findings, answer your questions and recommend any treatment or preventive steps that support your long-term dental health.

  • Personalised prevention advice: From brushing and flossing guidance to lifestyle recommendations, we offer tailored advice to help you maintain excellent oral hygiene between visits.

Check-ups & Gum Health

At Only One Clinic, prevention is the foundation of everything we do. Regular check-ups and attentive gum care work together to protect your smile long before problems have a chance to develop, and to catch anything that does arise while it is still simple to treat.

Ongoing Periodontal Care

Where a check-up identifies signs of gum disease, or for patients who need more focused support, we provide comprehensive periodontal care to protect the foundation of your smile through precise diagnostics and evidence-based treatment.

This may include:

  • Bone level screening and mapping: A detailed assessment and measurement of the bone and gum attachment around each tooth, to identify early signs of gum disease, bone loss or periodontal pocketing.

  • Periodontal health screening: A full periodontal examination to identify signs of inflammation, gum recession or active periodontal disease.

  • Oral hygiene assessment and instruction: Your clinician evaluates your brushing and flossing habits, plaque levels and overall gum health, and provides clear, step-by-step guidance, including the proper use of tongue scrapers and mouth rinses, to help you maintain optimal oral hygiene at home.

  • Scale and polish: A gentle yet thorough clean that removes plaque, calculus and surface staining, leaving the teeth smooth and refreshed.

  • Deep subgingival scaling and root planing: For patients with periodontal disease, deep cleaning beneath the gumline removes harmful build-up and smooths the root surfaces. This may be performed with or without local anaesthetic, depending on your comfort and clinical needs.
